As of 1 March 2017, Bellewoods, Ecopolitan & Forestville are the only Executive Condominiums without resale levy left.
Overview
Executive Condominium (EC) were introduced to cater to Singaporean, especially young graduates and professionals who can afford more than a HDB flat but find private property to be out of their reach.
ECs are comparable in design and facilities to private condominium as they are developed and sold by private developers. Over the years, the design and facilities of EC are getting better and some EC can equal or better private condominiums.
ECs are highly sought after by young graduates and professionals because of their affordability. ECs are typically priced 10 to 20% lower than her private counterparts within the same vicinity. Despite cooling measures implemented in recent years, ECs are selling at a healthy rate due to the fact that buyers of ECs are purchasing them for own stay and capital appreciation of ECs is generally better than private developments.
EC projects where the land sale is before 9 December 2013, Second-timers upgrading from HDB need not pay a resale levy.
